Job Description:


The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a central role in providing comprehensive compassionate patient care and services to ensure patient satisfaction. The RN is a key player in defining and providing the positive interface between patient/care givers and the Movement Disorders Clinic.


Position Responsibilities:


  1. Preparation for examination rooms and provide patient intake procedures; this may include:


  • Check of patient’s weight
  • Taking orthostatic vital signs
  • Discuss with patient current medications and schedule; assess need for prescription refill
  • Record medical history into electronic medical record system
  • Administering MOCA test


  1. Establish an ongoing rapport with patient and family members; provide information and education about Parkinson’s disease medications.
  2. Respond to patient needs during extended office visits.
  3. Assist with locating appropriate social services and making community referrals that may be beneficial.
  4. Assist physicians with taking history and entering into the electronic medical record.
  5. Assist physician with administration of Botox and videotaping of patients.
  6. Perform phlebotomy as needed.
  7. Ensure medical record of patient has been updated on a timely basis.





Registered Nurse in the state of California with a BSN degree.


4 or more years’ experience working with patients with a chronic progressive disease and complicated medication schedules. Preferred background in neurology.


Clear and tactful communications with patients, caregivers, and staff.


Must be able to handle multiple tasks and remain calm and courteous.


Excellent skills in the use of electronic medical records (prefer ECW), Microsoft Office Suite, and basic office machines (e.g.; fax machine) and the ability to maintain high quality of work.


Ability to take initiative in dealing with patient care issues, using good medical protocol judgment.
