Job Description:


Prestigious and respected 25-year old Silicon Valley medical research organization has an open position for a part-time (up to 20 hours per workweek, flexible work hours) Facilities Technician who will be responsible for repairs and maintenance, safety and security and coordination of outside contractors/vendors that provide services to ensure the organization can open for business.

Some of the responsibilities include: coordinate and assist with departmental and employee moves; acts as the primary contact for any building compliance inspections and maintenance issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs); assists with maintaining building security; make minor plumbing repairs, as necessary; perform basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required; move, assemble and install furniture or other office equipment; transports goods or equipment; perform immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain safe and clean facility; manage incoming and outgoing shipments through Shipping and Receiving area; monitor internal and external building and facilities, performs maintenance as needed; order building maintenance parts and supplies; and maintain documentation related to facilities management.


Job Requirements:


The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors, vendors and facilities compliance inspectors with an excellent customer service attitude; be a self-starter and team player; be organized and provide deliverables in support of project plans; have basic understanding of how things work (facility-related); be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; have the ability to prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks; to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints;and to safely use standard powered and non-powered tools; have experience with industrial safety issues; and have OSHA knowledge; have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office; and have a valid CA Drivers License, clean driving record, and vehicle insurance.

In addition this position requires the physical ability to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time; the ability to utilize/view a PC and/or monitor, lift up to 100 pounds, work on a ladder of 20 feet; and, the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
